September's Birthstone-Sapphire Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Properties: the second hardest of the most precious gemstones. Has a range of color from blue to yellow, green to orange-pink. Looks best under natural light; under incandescent lighting, they tend to look dull and unsaturated.
Proper care of a sapphire: sapphire stands up well to a variety of cleaning methods. Clean them with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Rinse well afterwards.
