July's Birthstone-Ruby
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Properties: it is the third hardest gemstone after diamond and moissanite. Known as the gemstone of nobles. In ancient cultures, they were used to predict the future. It is one of the four main precious stones along with sapphire, diamond, and emerald.
Proper care of a ruby: clean with lukewarm soapy water and a soft brush. Rinse well after cleaning. Can be steam cleaned. Rubies that have been dyed can be damaged by mild acid-like lemon juice.
